My Approach

I can help you.

I know for many deciding to come to therapy can be a challenging process for several reasons.

Worry can come from many places, our past and the trauma/grief we get stuck in, the fear of accomplishing our goals or guilt from achieving success while others may continue to struggle.

The change that you want isn’t going to happen if you are focused only on your past or your future. You will begin to live your best life now by returning to the present.

I can help you do this. I primarily use two modalities throughout your therapy sessions.

Person-Centered Therapy

This treatment was developed by Carl Rogers and is focused on the belief that every human being strives for and can fulfill his or her potential.

This approach is nondirective and will help to empower and motivate you to move forward through therapy and into your new life.

To ensure that we have the most comfortable opportunity to discuss your issues, I pride myself in creating a warm and calm environment, both in terms of my persona as well as the office area. This way we can allow the work of therapy to occur.

I will be a listening ear and will have an open and warm heart to support you in making the changes you feel are needed to live a fulfilled life.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy in which clients learn how to change negative thinking patterns into positive thoughts through redirection.

Transforming one’s thoughts will ultimately result in positive actions and behaviors in awkward moments.

The goal is to help you stop focusing on the negative thoughts or internal dialogue. This then allows you to begin to realize the positive things in your life. How you think impacts how you live.

About Me

You did not just happen upon my page. You’re here because you want to feel better. Am I wrong? You want to see how I may be of help or if I will be.

“There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can’t.
What you’ve got to do is turn around and say, ‘Watch me.’”

This quote by Layne Beachley is my favorite. It sums me up well. I feel it is essential not to allow others to discourage you from living your dreams.

I always consider the thoughts and opinions of others, especially my loved ones. However, I always remind myself that not everyone understands your life vision, and that is okay.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Board-Certified Counselor (NBCC) with many years of experience. I have worked alongside adults aged 18 to 80, as they acknowledge and work through the multiple life transitions and struggles that may have limited their ability to experience joy and happiness.

I will use my vast experience and expertise in Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy to help you let go of the pain.

It might sound cliché, but I became a therapist because I want to help others. I know there are many ways to help; however, I chose to help build emotional health because it’s often overlooked or minimized. I know that when you take care of your emotional health, it positively influences all aspects of your life. I want to be a part of your positive change.
